Once a year in Dayton, Ohio legions of fans of indie rock legends Guided By Voices amass to celebrate one of the best and most underappreciated bands of all time, at HEEDFEST.


Last year some bright spark had the idea of bringing the party to Europe, and so the first EuroHEEDFEST was held in London, UK. We had visitors from all over the UK, from Belgium, Italy, Germany and even a few hardy Americans! Everyone there had a great day.

And this year, bigger and better, the party returns for a 12 hour romp at the best venue in London: The Windmill, Brixton.

The UK’s premier GBV tribute band Band Of Pricks will be your hosts and house band, playing three sets throughout the day…

A 15+ song acoustic set to kick things off at about 4:00pm.

A 20+ song electric set of stompers at about 7:00pm.

A marathon 30+ song headline hits set at about 10:15pm.

There will also be two additional sets from very special guests at around 6:00pm and 9:15pm. More details on this to follow!

The BBQ (the cost of which is included in the entry fee, and is seriously worth more than the entry fee on its own!) will take place at around 5:00pm.

There will also be a special 10 song live karaoke set at about 8:15pm where ten different members of the crowd can come up and sing a song live with the band. A preliminary list of the following ten songs will be available for selection :

Vague rules for this … i) being able to at least sort of sing, ii) promising to learn the words, iii) buying an advance ticket when they go on sale (ticket link will follow shortly).

Including the guest bands, there will be approaching, hopefully exceeding 100 GBV classics performed live throughout the day, and DJs taking over after the bands, playing the best in indie rock classics and even more GBV hits until the early hours. The bar will open at 3pm and stay open until about 3am!

With the real thing unfortunately pulling out of their scheduled appearance at ATP in May, this looks likely to be the closest thing you will get to seeing GBV live in the UK in 2012.
