A classical string quartet that rocks? The Carpe Diem String Quartet, a self-described “indie” string quartet, joins Philadelphia singer-songwriter Andrew Lipke for a genre-bending musical collaboration featuring Debussy’s String Quartet, music from Lipke’s latest album and more.


Carpe Diem has earned critical acclaim with innovative programming, electrifying performances and a passion for audience engagement. The group’s musical explorations have led them down paths of gypsy, tango, folk, pop, rock and jazz-inspired music, while remaining equally at home with traditional string quartet repertoire. Andrew Lipke brings similarly diverse musical interests to his roles as an artist, producer, songwriter and entertainer in the Philadelphia music scene. He released his fourth album “The Plague” in September 2011.
