Zur Abwechslung beackern Emma Cooper, Danny How und Andy Beswick mal nicht die neueste Neue Welle, sondern fabrizieren kraftvollen Indiepop, irgendwo zwischen den Cardigans, Beautiful South und Belle And Sebastian.
Standard Fare sind manchmal niedlich, doch in der Regel heftig und zerbrechlich. Es schimmert eine nervöse Verwundbarkeit durch diese kleinen Schrammelpophymnen, wie im famosen ersten Hit des neuen Jahres- Darth Vader: “You get too emotional / You’re lost in your own turmoil / You’re still not five years old” und “I’m not Darth Vader, Luke I’m not your father…”
“Limbo. It’s a funny place to be, but it provided inspiration for the second album from Standard Fare, the Sheffield-based indie-pop power trio who debuted with 2010’s The Noyelle Beat, their lovelorn, melodic songs and male/female vocals making them the new darlings of the indie-pop scene.”
