Longtime friends Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin will come together this spring for a special evening of music and song. Mary Chapin and Shawn will share the stage in an intimate evening of storytelling and music, their exquisite voices and expert guitar stylings blending together in perfect harmony as they perform songs from their vast catalogues and proffer their distinctive interpretations of some of their very favorite songs.
Mary Chapin Carpenter has won five Grammy Awards, recorded 12 albums and has sold over 13 millions records. As she continues to profess her love for all kinds of music, you'll hear her combine folk, country, acoustic, rock and blues in this intimate concert. Her songs speak to the most personal of life's details and the most universal. Carpenter recently was honored with The Americana Association's esteemed 'Spirit of Americana Free Speech in Music Award', which recognizes artists who have used their work to raise awareness and promote free speech.
Shawn Colvin has won three Grammy Awards, released nine albums, maintained a non-stop touring schedule, appeared on countless television and radio programs, had her songs featured in major motion pictures, and created a remarkable canon of work. Her songs are slow-release works of craft and catharsis that become treasured, lifetime companions for their listeners. Shawn is currently in the studio recording her next album with producer Buddy Miller. She has also completed a memoir, to be published by Harper Collins in May 2012, which is a natural extension of the personal and often hilarious stories that she weaves into her live shows.
