Grey Lantern + Sonic Cathedral Present ... The Early Years
The Early Years and Advances in Mathematics
Grey Lantern and Sonic Cathedral are delighted to announce that hugely influential London-based four-piece The Early Years’ first show outside of London in four years will be in Manchester on January 31st, following the their successful reformation in Autumn last year at CAMP in London.
A true musicians’ band, The Early Years were the sort of group who gained a cult following among those in the know, a band who The Horrorshailed as massive and influences and who Brian Eno became fascinated by – comparing the drummer Phil Raines to the late, great drummer of Neu! Klaus Dinger. Releasing their self-titled debut album in 2006 to huge critical acclaim, the group then spent two years dazzling crowd with ever more eclectic and experimental sets that perfected their multi-faceted tapestry of kosmiche-inspired sounds.
A hiatus was called in 2008 following 2007’s ‘Great Awakening EP’ and a 2008 Sonic Cathedral single release ‘Like A Sucide / ‘The Computer Voice’. Huge demand and a sense of a story that needs finishing have called David Malkinson (vox.guitarist), Roger Mackin (guitarist), Brendan Kersey (bassist) and Phil Raines (vox./drummer) back however and, with 2012 looking like an open field for music, who would bet against The Early Years making good on their initial, thrilling promise.
