Back by popular demand, nightlife impresario Deryck Todd presents the Winter 2011 installment of BowieBall: celebrating the apex of electric excess— BowieBall pays homage to the definitive rock icon: David Bowie, in an anything-goes charity extravaganza bringing together the best in music, art, fashion, and entertainment.

A notorious door persona from OnoratoWixom will tap in the in crowd at hot spot Le Poisson Rouge in the heart of the West Village. Following to rock who rolls in, New York’s hottest DJ’s Russ Manning (Twin Shadow), Jake B (Dirty Grand) & Bill Coleman (Peace Bisquit) will spin exclusive Bowie smashups. Hosts celebrity stylist Lauren Rae Levy, Betsey Johnson muse/ designer Stephanie Wangenman & Simcha Whitehill (No-No Factory) will shimmer in the glitteratti for resident Sirius Radio photographer Maro Hagopian.

Backed by a live band churning out star-studded Bowie classics, performers are Kelle Calco (The Colored Boys), legendary Amber Martin, Sacred Center Gospel Choir, bodacious chanteuse Bridget Everett, The Mystery of Claywoman’s Michael Cavadias, Slinky Vagabond headliner Keanan Duffty, downtown diva Lady Rizo and more. Burlesque beauties include the gender bending LeRoi The Girl Boy and pop pistol Stormy Leather will strut their stuff to pure original stardust songs.

Bridget Everett has been dubbed “Wynona Judd meets Melissa Etheridge, via the local bar floozy, on a rocket ship out of Twin Peaks” by The Village Voice’s Michael Musto. Having grown up in Manhattan, Kansas, Bridget received her degree in vocal performance at Arizona State University. Soon after, she promptly abandoned it all to move to New York, sing karaoke and work as a waitress. Bridget has most recently been collaborating with Kenny Mellman (Kiki and Herb) and Michael Patrick King (“Sex and the City”) on At Least It’s Pink. At Least It’s Pink has played at Ars Nova, Joe’s Pub, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and the Aspen United States Comedy Arts Festival. Bridget played Lynn Chenney in Taylor Mac’s Red Tide Blooming at p.s. 122. She is the cohost of Automatic Vaudeville at Ars Nova, has performed on the Murray Hill show at Mo Pitkins, sung with the Isotoners, with Jim Andralis and Larry Krone, and plays R Kelly’s sister in the show Neal Medlyn Plus Kenny Mellman Equals R Kelly. You can also catch her wearing gold lame in Times Square along side the Varisty Interpretive Dance Squad in Moby’s latest music video “new york, new york.”

Keanan Duffty
Keanan Duffty is a CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) member and is recognized as an authority on global youth culture. Duffty has given a series of “Rebel Rebel-Anti Style” lectures at fashion schools, including the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons The New School, LIM College, Marist College, Philadelphia University, Drexel University, Academy of Art San Francisco, and Brooklyn Museum.

Lady Rizo
Though it is rumored that she is the product of a night of unrestrained indulgence between Peggy Lee, Mel Brooks, Nina Simone, Dean Martin and Janis Joplin the truth is Lady Rizo was raised by theatrical gypsies with the highest show business ethics. When she almost looked of age she rebelled against the unscrubbed rustic life and set out for a world of metropolitan sophisticates.

The ‘Cabaret Superstar’ (New York Magazine) exploded on to the New York stage with a powerful voice and stage charisma that has made audiences take note. The chantuese and commedienne revives the cabaret genre by creating vintage arrangements of pop songs of 80s, 90s and today. Lady Rizo (nee Amelia Zirin-Brown) co-created the cult caburlesque spectacular Lady Rizo and the Assettes in 2005.
