Standstill To Motion Tour

First performances in 30 years for Dutch electro pioneers/Factory Records artists Minny Pops
Three decades after their last live appearances, electro avant-gardists MINNY POPS return with four UK performances in January 2012.
The Amsterdam-based band, who shared a label and stages with Joy Division, New Order and A Certain Ratio and a headstrong ethos with their peers in Holland’s Ultra club scene, will undertake a long-rumoured re-formation in support of a live CD/DVD release, Standstill to Motion.
Led by imposing vocalist Wally van Middendorp, Minny Pops took their name from the primitive Korg drum machine that propelled their stark, confrontational post-punk rhythms. Their association with Factory Records saw them work with producer Martin Hannett, gain press plaudits in the UK for their album Sparks in A Dark Room and singles including Dolphin’s Spurt, Kojak, Secret Story and Time, and become the first Dutch act to record a Peel session.
16 January 2012 brings the release of Standstill to Motion (LTM Recordings), a live CD/DVD package documenting powerful 1981 performances by the band in Amsterdam and New York. This follows the warm critical reception for recent LTM reissues of Minny Pops’ back catalogue.
