Returning to Australia this March with their warm vocal harmonies and woodsy, folk-influenced songs, is Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit. Since being hand-picked by Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife to release their debut EP through Rabid Records in 2008, First Aid Kit’s profile has grown in leaps and bounds. From teenage fans covering Fleet Foxes for fun, to recording a single with Jack White, to extensive US and UK tours with artists such as Lykke Li and Bright Eyes, last month the duo moved Patti Smith to tears at the Polar Prize in Stockholm with a stunning rendition of her song ‘Dancing Barefoot’. Their forthcoming second album ‘The Lion’s Roar’ is a carefully constructed collection of songs juxtaposing sadness and beauty in the best traditions of folk and country music.
