VARIOUS CRUELTIES

Formed in September 2010 and named after an Ed Ruscha painting of the same name, who Talking Heads famously used for the ‘Sand in the Vaseline’ compilation, Various Cruelties played their first ever gig with The Vaccines.

A flurry of interest followed and Various Cruelties quickly became a fixture on the airwaves, picking up support from Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Rob Da Bank and Zane Lowe. In response, they pressed up 500 7” singles of ‘If It Wasn’t For You’, distributed themselves mainly on Ebay, which promptly sold out, as did next single ‘Neon Truth’.

The rest came in a rush: gigs, publishing, record deal. And so, in August 2011, the band found themselves in Hollywood, California, recording a debut album with Tony Hoffer, producer of Beck, Phoenix, Goldfrapp and 2011’s breakthrough band, Foster The People. With the resulting album fusing indie and soul influences and moulding them into thrilling new shapes and with the band’s ever increasing profile, 2012 is firmly set to be Various Cruelties year.

DECEPTIONS POCKET

Deceptions Pocket are a British indie rock band with acoustic and psychedelic origins, formed in Birmingham in the summer of 2008. The group was formed by vocalist Joey Barrett and guitarist and co-writer Joe Berry, they were eventually joined by friends Patrick Worrall on drums, Mark Peyton on Bass and Jake Peal on lead guitar. Deceptions Pocket are currently performing live with an ever growing loyal fanbase.
