Echaskech on stage at 8.30pm, curfew 12.30am
The next in the series of Just Music Cafe nights will also double up as Just Music's Christmas party! Fitting then that the evening's headliner, Echaskech, is about as Just Music as they come.
Experiencing the duo play live will re-define your expectations of what an electronic act can achieve in a performance. Their unique style of melodic dance rhythms blend a spectrum of flavours from the warm chord progressions of Brian Eno and Urlich Shnauss to the filthy subs of Modeselektor, all strung together with in a seamlessly building set that is seductive and uplifting to the point of air punching euphoria. Their real-time mixing and structuring from sequenced parts has lead to a set often compared with the finest moments of Orbital live.
Mach V (a.k.a Mark van der Vord), regular supplier of visuals for the likes of The Big Chill and SoxaN, provides a unique visual element to each Echaskech track from a variety of visual sources. As this collaboration has developed over a rigorous live schedule, so has the technical integration between Andy, Dom and Marks computer set up, resulting in a fully coordinated Audio Visual experience.
After the amazingly received debut album, Skechbook, in 2007, 2009 saw the release of Shatterproof, an album of bone shaking electronica and soothing synths.
"In time, Shatterproof will be recognized as one of the most important electronic albums of the ‘00s, every bit as much as Leftfield’s Leftism is recognized as one of the essentials of the ‘90s" Pop Matters
"Echaskech may sound lush and atmospheric but this is ambience with teeth...as a live proposition, Echaskech toughen up into a true armoured dance animal with crunching beats and vicious synth snipes as standard...with the addition of Mach V (visuals) Echaskech become a truely immersive audio-visual experience where melody and groove are prime directives."
