A Winged Victory For The Sullen is the new, highly acclaimed project from pianist and composer Dustin O’Halloran and Stars of the Lid’s ambient maestro Adam Wiltzie.
Dustin is a highly sought after composer, after soundtracking Sophia Coppola’s ‘Marie Antoinette’, but has also recorded beautiful solo piano albums for FatCat’s contemporary classical imprint 130701. Now based in Berlin he finds himself in a vanguard of young and exciting composers alongside the likes of Haushka, Nils Frahm and Max Richter.
Adam Wiltzie is a leading figure in the ambient world having released several influential records with Stars Of The Lid since their debut in 1995. He has also worked as a live musician and studio producer for the likes of The Flaming Lips, Sparklehorse and Mercury Rev.
This debut collaboration was released by Erased Tapes to universal acclaim with notable guest musicians including Icelandic cellist Hildur Gudnadottir and Erased Tapes label comrade Peter Broderick on violin. A Winged Victory For The Sullen is not a side project - it is the future of the late night record you have always dreamed of.
