You guys have been great to us in 2011. Booming bass, cool vibes, and club saunas have pretty much defined this year for ICEE HOT. That’s why we are PUMPED to team up with Public Works to bring you our last party of the year. It also happens to be one of our BIGGEST and WEIRDEST line-ups yet!


First off, we have none other than the legendary JUAN ATKINS from Detroit! If you are reading this and don’t know who he is, you must be here by mistake. Seriously though, in a nutshell, the man invented something called “TECHNO.” Maybe you’ve heard of it? His contribution to dance music culture is unrivaled and we are honored to have The Godfather throw down an extended DJ set for us.

Also on tap for the evening are the haunting, immersive sounds of BALAM ACAB. The young Pennsylvanian is conducting his first-ever LIVE tour and ICEE HOT will mark his SF debut! His excellent debut LP ‘Wander / Wonder’ and 2010 EP ‘See Birds’ have helped define the Tri Angle Records sound that the kids just love so much these days (don’t call it w**** house). He’ll also be joined by fellow Tri Angle signee and local dark pop wunderkind oOoOO, who will be dropping a LIVE set of syrupy beats and ethereal vocals wrapped in a shroud of mystery. Spooky!

(PLEASE NOTE: oOoOO and Balam Acab will both be playing in the earlier part of the evening. We highly recommend arriving no later than 10pm if you want to see them both.)

Speaking of live sets, make sure to come out and welcome back ICEE bud GHOSTS ON TAPE, who will be appearing at his first ICEE HOT since returning from Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid. His too-good-to-be-true LIVE PA sets are a rarity these days, so make sure you don’t miss the floppy disk-wielding sample maestro in action.

If all that wasn’t enough, the night will also feature an ULTRA-SPECIAL appearance by our long-lost ICEE brother LOW LIMIT. He’s usually too busy touring the world (either solo style or in LAZER SWORD) to join us, but he’s gonna stop by to celebrate his birthday with us (and deliver some world-class bass jams)!
Add in our other immensely talented residents SHAWN REYNALDO and ROLLIE FINGERS (who will also be celebrating his birthday), Public Works’ FUNKTION 1 sound, and trippy visuals, and you’ve got a recipe for a night that goes beyond just a mere party. This ICEE HOT has live performances galore, a certified Detroit musical legend, and a birthday buddy jam!
