After a year together as a band, Red Light Cameras are finally releasing their self-titled debut record, and are celebrating on October 15th with a CD release party at Launchpad. Red Light Cameras features 11 tracks and was recorded locally this past summer, at Que Studios with Fernando Moore in the producer seat. The four piece indie-pop group joined forces in 2010, combining groovy beats, quirky lyrics, and catchy melodies in the interest of playing music for fun. They quickly began to pick up a local following, putting on entertaining shows all across town, thanks to their varied backgrounds as accomplished performance artists outside the band, including with UNM’s theater department. They’ve also recently opened for the likes of Girl In A Coma and Those Darlins. The other acts supporting Red Light Cameras for their CD release show are among their favorite local bands.

Israel Morales, who writes for Examiner.com, recently reviewed Red Light Cameras’ live show. He called them “ones to watch,” adding that Amanda’s amazing vocals are “like listening to what Tina Turner and Janis Joplin would have produced if they ever had a kid together.” He also describes the energy of their live show as “a mixture of great vocals and high energy from the great four piece band who you can tell are genuinely having a great time playing together.” The band has been busy since they formed. Before getting to the studio proper this summer, they self-recorded their EP, have played all over town, and have filmed two music videos.
