We’ve enjoyed the music of all three of these men at this Festival on more than one occasion. We have, for example, heard the sax power of the 1st as part of the Baptiste Trotignon Quintet in 2009, soared on the strings of the 2nd with the Chris Potter Quartet last year and tapped out the rhythms laid down by the 3rd in every appearance by the Brad Mehldau Trio. For the first time at this Festival, saxophonist Mark Turner, double bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jeff Ballard present their project, Fly, released on the prestigious ECM label. A musical summit convened by three exceptional players.
