After January’s sellout show, we’re pleased to welcome back… METRONOMY

Metronomy, the brainchild of Joseph Mount, began ten years ago in the tiny, bohemian market town of Totnes in Devon. His debut album ‘Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)’ was released in June 2006 and its obtuse but fascinating, largely instrumental electro-pop reflected the eccentricity of its title. It quickly captured the imaginations of critics and fans alike, including DJ, producer, Trash founder and electro-punk avatar Erol Alkan, who asked Metronomy to play at his club.

Then came second album, ‘Nights Out’ – the wonky love-child of Giorgio Moroder, New Order, Pet Shop Boys and Unfinished Sympathy. The first to be vocal-led, with the self-effacing Joseph stepping up and grabbing the mic for most of the tracks; and, crucially, the first to introduce Metronomy as a fully live proposition. The addition of bassist Gbenga Adelekan and live drummer Anna Prior cemented Metronomy as one of the UK’s most exciting live prospects, proving it is possible for electronic bands to put on show as authentic as any rock band

New album ‘The English Riveria’ has been released to widespread critical acclaim, and the excitement and originality on display is undeniable, with the album being short-listed for the Mercury Music Award 2011.

CLOCK OPERA

After their auspicious single ‘Belongings’ which made Record of the Week with Edith Bowman (BBC Radio 1) and John Kennedy (XFM), Zane Lowe’s (BBC Radio 1) Hottest Record in the World and full support from Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1) when it was released back in June, Clock Opera will release their ‘Lesson No.7 EP’ on October 3rd through Moshi Moshi/Island Records.

Clock Opera has been steadily building a reputation as purveyors of cerebral, original and utterly captivating music over the last year. Alongside limited edition 7inch single releases on Kitsune and Moshi Moshi, they have supported the likes of Yeasayer and Everything Everything on their UK tours and received rapturous acclaim from their live performances at SXSW and most recently Field Day festival in London.

“Unsettling but hypnotic…this organised chaos is timeless” -Mojo
