Mise en scene is Shay Nassi from the city of Tel-Aviv in Israel.
Shay (1977) began to study the art of sound engineering at Jordan Valley College in the north of Israel, where he gained a degree in Practical Sound Engineering.
The skills obtained there are clearly visible in the quality and acoustic depth of his production and sound design.
Shay produces an experimental sound which is built from different layers such as wavetones, noise, field recordings, and live instrument recordings which when manipulated create a cohesive work of minimal, ambient drone sound.
‘’After building a more than promising career start thanks to a connection with Swiss label leerraum, who published his first two works on multichannel DVDs, Shay Nassi now seems to be headed for wider recognition. Equipped with a style owing as much to the delicate material treatments of minimalism and the lower case movement as it does to the more pensive side of Noise, he has quickly stolen the hearts of all those to whom the former was too academic and the latter appeared overly brute and primitive. Drones and White Noise enter an erotically tinged liasion dangereuse on his tracks, which are marked by a great sense of spatial control, instrumental delicacy and arrangement-related sensibility.’‘

SEVENTEEN MIGS OF SPRING needs no introduction, their sinister soundscapes are generated in the physical domain, with indistinct noise-making devices, the majority electronic components of their sound are orchestrated by means of banks of inter-connected equipment, when things get hectic the musicians become rather frantically animated in a way that bloke-with-laptop acts never do. Their music leans heavily towards warm, analogue dub trips, punctuated with digital glitchery, tech and IDM influences with an industrial edge. The overall effect is highly competent and pleasingly hypnotic mixture of different, often conflicting cultural, philosophic and music influences. It is hard to categorize and label. It is very different from release to release and every live appearance is unique and never to be repeated performance. Always evolving.
This concert is a start of a new chapter. After completing their experiments with very slow music, they turned their attention to faster and groovier stuff. This time they will use hardware instruments only, no computers. The audience will witness ultra rare if not the very first one in Israel stage appearance of Euro Modular Synthesizer as well as various DIY electronic instruments, made by K-76, Vtol (Russia) and Stupid Design (France).
