The ever-changing post-rock entity that is now known simply as Thee Silver Mount Zion Orchestra have just confirmed a full UK tour for mid-late March, following on from the previous confirmed ATP shows, and in support of their forthcoming album. It’s their first in over two years, too. Folks should be thankful for this. [Drowned In Sound]

Somehow ended up seeing them in London instead. Thought the crowd there was really static (but appreciative, unlike when I saw Grails in London and not only were the crowd statues but nobody gave a shit when the band left the stage. Eventually they came back and did an encore, no thanks to 99% of the crowd.) Had the feeling the Brighton show would be more relaxed. Was it? Anyway, incredible band. Seeing them live set me straight on why they aren't godspeed any more. Also I think I want to convert to French Canadian now.

I have to admit I thought this band were good when my friend introduced them to me, but now that I have seen them live I realise just how amazing they actually are. Sitting at the very front on cushions watching this magic unfold; it was totally worth getting stranded for the rest of the night on account of missing the last train for. Again, please! Hang on to each other.

Yeah, that was pretty spectacular. I have to say though, I think they could have chosen a better encore. I don't mind the song or anything but being largely vocal harmonies it lacks the power of some of their other material. Still gotta be one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

Great set, good banter, beautiful ending. The contrast between this venue and the pub on the opening night was interesting...Efrim thought they were restrained in Bristol but I thought they were a little more so here. Maybe it was Jesus hanging over them. Both audiences were very respectful though, unlike elsewhere on the tour apparently. I'll be posting a link to my recording here in a day or two. It's good :)

Fantastic, especially the rendition of God Bless Our Dead Marines. Set: Metal Bird, There is a Light, God Bless Our Dead Marines, 'Piphany Rambler, 1,000,000 Died to Make This Sound; encore: Hang on to Each Other - correct me if I'm mistaken.
