ROOM TONES PRESENT…

— GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT —

Hailing from Glen of the Downs, Ireland, GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT formed in 2002 and have already released 4 albums and one EP.

Live the band make use of projected, self-edited video footage along with impressive lighting arrangements to form what it calls, a “full audio visual show”, with each song accompanied by its own video.

Now one of the best known instrumental bands they have performed all over the world including numerous sold out shows in Europe and in the US. With ambient and post-rock influences, you will certainly approve if you have remote interest in: Tortoise, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, or Do Make Say Think.

Discography:

ALBUM - “God Is An Astronaut” s/t - 2008
ALBUM - “Far From Refuge” - 2007
E.P. - “A Moment of Stillness” - 2006
ALBUM - “All is Violent, All is Bright” - 2005
ALBUM - “The End of the Beginning” - 2002 (read less)

— BUTTERFLY EXPLOSION —

Butterfly Explosion released two EPs independently, touring North America, UK and Ireland, with interest bringing festival appearances as far afield as Austin Texas (SXSW) and Tallin Estonia (Paljassaare Rock Fest). Their increasingly epic live shows have seen them be championed by many as one of the most promising bands to emerge from Ireland in recent years. When UK webzine Drowned In Sound had a week of articles in April 2009 dedicated to the revival and diverse influence of the early 90s shoegaze scene, Butterfly Explosion were amongst the international artists highlighted as ones to watch.

Recording on the debut album began late 2008 with producer Torsten Kinsella (God Is An Astronaut) with release scheduled for February 2010 on Irish label Revive Records.

— DEAN MCPHEE —

Atmospheric but detailed, Dean McPhee is remincent of Jimmy Page, John Williams, and Jimi Hendrix. Dean is a solo electric guitarist, using analog effects, valves, and drones. His music is unassuming, self effacing and unbelievably brilliant. His beautiful and hypnotic tracks are recorded in one take, some improvised, some written, some both.

On his latest album, Brown Bear:
“Arguably the best solo guitar record in the past few years. 10/10 ” (Foxy Digitalis)

“Quietly captures the sound of a man simply playing a guitar extremely well, with little ostentation or outside artifice” (Brainwashed)

“A record that deserves to be treasured and soaked in over the years purely on its own aesthetic merits, regardless of external trends”. (Stereo Sanctity)

“The magnificent solo guitar playing of Dean McPhee is beautifully documented on “Brown Bear”…the ideal way to relax into a chilled evening with those you love”. (Terrascope Online)
