The Mars Volta is set to bring the bombast at three huge sideshows this January whilst in Australia for the Big Day Out. Acting purely as the experimental egress for the weird and wonderful minds of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, The Mars Volta has continued to defy expectations with the release of each successive album.


The band’s fifth and most recent release Octahedron was described by our FasterLouder reviewer as “…a bold step forward for a duo who are always miles in front.” Fans will be pleased to hear that to help bring this album to life in a live setting, the band are touring as a ‘stripped-back’ six- piece with newly aquired drummer Thomas Pridgen.

    i went with a couple of mates of mine prior to having sat down and really listened to The Mars Volta. The gig was pretty sweet, and the fact that i recognised and could appreciate the last song they played topped it off for me =]
