Friday 18 December 2009
34 Bedford Street, Belfast, BT2 7FF, United Kingdom
Trans, in association with Smalltown America, are proud to present the most exciting show of 2009.
Our very own four piece instrumental juggernauts - And So I Watch You From Afar - are headlining Belfast’s Ulster Hall. This unique show will take place on December 18th 2009, with a full support bill which will include some very special guests.
Since the bands sold out their Mandela Hall album launch show in March, this was always the next step for them. Blame it on their ever increasing fan base and unmatched live performances. If you haven’t heard of ASIWYFA, where have you been? These guys are a must see, and this will be a show you do not want to miss!
ASIWYFA won accolades such as Huw Stephen’s Album of the Week, four K’s in Kerrang!, 10/10 from Radio One, Band Of The Year from ATL, a place in the Top Ten Northern Irish Songs of our Lifetime from Alternative Ulster, glowing reviews in the NME and Top 50 Albums of 08 and Ones To Watch 09 in Rock Sound. Phew!
ASIWYFA live performances have been described by the press as stunning and unmissable, a tear jerking experience. They're a band that rise above the musical ghettos and incorporates influences from hip hop, calypso, Irish folk, Ethiopian jazz, and rune metal. Their delicate minutiae of fidgeting rhythms and optimistic dream state melodies get steamrollered by a colossal sonic barrage of apocalyptic proportions. Having been together since only2006, this ambitious foursome have the drive of some kind of bastard big tank and have managed to build not just their own reputation to towering heights but also that of a whole city. This is their machine and it certainly doesn’t look like anything can stop it.
Since releasing their debut album in March, they've toured relentlessly around the UK, hit up Germany in support of Clutch and levelled festivals across Europe (inc. the Oxegen Festival, the largest in Ireland) . They're also set to headline Northern Ireland's very own Glasgowbury festival. Simply put - this has been an incredible year for the four piece, and they only seem to be getting better and better with it.
Tickets are available now, priced at a very reasonable £8 advance, and can be purchased from the Waterfront Hall Box Office on 028 9033 4455 and from The Ulster Hall. Full supporting line up and online sales to be announced soon, so keep an eye on this very website for more details.
