Tokyo’s Tenniscoats make a welcome return to a Glasgow stage. Always evolving, their sound is at once gently experimental and comfortingly melodic with Saya’s vocals always warm and full of wonder. A flawless discography will soon be augmented by their collaboration with Scottish legends The Pastels. The groups’ joint shows a couple of years ago suggest that this is going to be something utterly special!

Refined across myriad releases for many of the key labels of the day (including VHF/Jagjaguwar and his own No Fans imprint) Richard Youngs’ blasted minimal folk music has become one of the most admired underground sounds of the last 20 years. Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore asked him to play at his ATP and he has performed live with reclusive legend Jandek.

Glasgow’s theapplesofenergy’s beautiful looped sound sketches evoke a Hood-style hazy idyll. Lovely!

I was only their to see richard youngs, but I was sitting in Mono at soundcheck and really enjoyed Tenniscoats, i'm glad I stayed on to see them now!
