• Too Much Time On My Hands

    8 Ago 2006, 13:56 de U2Angel

Before I begin I would like to say a couple of things.
Firstly, Hppy Birthday to The Edge of U2who turned 45 today.
Secondly, I would like to welcome into the world my 11th nephew Nathan who arrived safely early this morning.

Now down to business. I found I had a bit too much time on my hands this afternoon so I decided I would raid my CD collection just to see what was lurking there. So here is the complete list of every CD I own and a few I pinched off my younger brother that never found there way home. Please note that solo artists are listed by first name. Enjoy :)

i just can't stop listening this song

    Train - Mississippi

    They call her Mississippi
But she don't flow to me
Spends her light on the Bayou
But she don't come to see
She's the one that makes my dreams
    They call her Mississippi
But she don't flow to me

    The shape of her horizon
    Makes the morning sun
When she puts her eyes on
    Each and anyone
She's the one that makes me fall
Midnight moon shines through it all

She's the one that makes me fall
Midnight moon shines through it all
She's the one that makes my dreams
    They call her Mississippi
But she don't flow to me
    They call her Mississippi
But she don't flow to me

So if my recent charts are anything to go by I am currently obsessed with the Japanese version of the Kingdom Hearts II Soundtrack along with listening to the odd song by Train and Fat Boy Slim. Unfortunately this isn’t entirely accurate, in fact for the last 2 months or so my playlist hasn’t really been entirely accurate, more just a snapshot of the files on my laptop I play when browsing the net and can’t be bothered to dig out some real music (bar the Fat Boy Slim - Greatest Hits: Why Try Harder album but I’ll bring that up later). The main way I’ve been listening to music for the last two months at home, has of course been via the magic that is my mp3 player and it’s ragtag (and badly tagged) collection of music and other assorted oddities that I’ve collected over the years.

This said there are certain albums and collections of music I listen to more often then others…
  • Surveys make me jump for joy!

    1. What are you listening to right now?
    Your Diary by Franz Ferdinand.

    2. What song makes you sad?
Hallelujah by Jeff buckley. If you feel like having a good cry, put some headphones on, crank that and just sit there.

    3. What is the most annoying song in the world?
Um... right now I think it's You're Beautiful by James Blunt. If I hear that one more time, I swear to god...

    4. Your all time favorite band?
    The Beatles. Duh.

    5. Your newly discovered band is?
    Uhh.. The Honey Brothers?

    6. Best female voice?
I don't know if it's THE best, but I really dig Pink's voice. She's pretty incredible.

    7. Best male voice?
It's really, really hard to beat Jeff Buckley. But I love Matt Wertz and Jamie Cullum. They both have amazing voices as well.

    8. Music type you find yourself listening to most?
Rock? That's kind of vague, but oh well.

    9. What do you listen to, to hype you up?
My "makes me wanna dance" playlist.

  • Lyrics game YEAH =)

    31 Jul 2006, 11:10 de Humanaddiction

I like doing this, so here's another of those annoying lyrics games =). This time I wrote the first four sentences in every song. Don't forget to vote in my Musical World Cup as well! =)

    1.I won’t let you break
You’ll live to fight another day
    All so you feel safe
I’d take a bullet, jump a speeding train
    No Use Crying

2.Wandering the streets in a world underneath it all
    But nothing seems to be
Nothing tastes as sweet as what I can’t have
Like you and the way that you’re twisting your hair round your finger
    For You I Will (Confidence)

3.She packed her shit and she left for the city
On the 8:10 train and I still can’t believe it
Man, I don’t even know how we could let this happen
She slammed the door and she gave me the finger
    Get Happy

4.One question what can’t be done
You tear me down with the same thing
There’s nothing the end, it’s begun
What can you do when it all drains
    I'm Waiting

5.I need a sign to let me know you’re here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
  • Some notes on the music I listened to lately

    30 Jul 2006, 12:12 de marco78train

Tori Amos - I think is my most played artist in the last few weeks. She used to be one of my favorite artists, but not lang after the release To Venus And Back I somehow lost track of her. Then last year I borrowed a copy of Scarlet's Walk from a friend which I uploaded to my computer. She then made some sort of comeback, but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I discovered the beauty of the song Strange. After that, I just kept on listening. Her cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit has also become a favorite.

Train - Number 2 has to be Train, my all time favorite band. Last week I finally got myself an original copy of For Me, It's You. Unbelievable that this has still not been released in the Netherlands! What got into those guys from the record company??? *protest*

I also listened a lot to My Private Nation.

By the way, do join my Train group called Meet Virginia!!!

Little Annie - Have to write a review of her cd Songs From the Coal Mine Canary and I was very positively surprised by it. …

Hello everyone, since I could not find a group dedicated to my favorite band, I decided to starte my own! I don't know exactly what you are supposed to do in a group like this, but I hope a lot of people will join!

I have decided to call this group Meet Virginia, because that's the song that got me into them.

  • Concert List: 2001-2006; 30+ concerts

    21 Jul 2006, 16:07 de keiranc

Around the same time I started attending more concerts (ie 1991-1992), I also had a lot of pen pals. We often traded lists of concerts we'd been to, so I was lucky and started keeping track of all the shows I'd seen that way very early on. Otherwise, I'd never have been able to create a listing of the 350+ concerts I've been to.

A few years down the road, as my concert attendance jumped significantly, I moved everything into an Excel file, and also started keeping a listing on my website. The last time that website was updated was at the end of 2001, but I still kept updating the Excel file. Then, sadly, in mid-2003 disaster struck. The Excel file was saved over accidentally. There went ALL the data on concerts I'd attended after 2001. Not only that, but the Excel file had a ton of extra information saved to it as well. In addition to just the dates, artist names and locations, that Excel sheet had notes on what venue the show was at, and who I had attended with for ALL 300+ shows. …
