  • masterpiece....look up all lyrics to all songs on this record...paints a picture
  • "I like your poetry but I hate your poems" is incontrovertibly too good a line to be reduced to the banality of being a pop lyric - and almost as good is the indescribable devastation of "lots of people would cry, though none spring to mind," in which even the ability to imagine and validate the breakdown he goes through fails the author.
  • The Greatest Virtually Unknown Band - ever.
  • Like Jerry (Mel Gibson) in Conspiracy Theory, who’s obsessed with Catcher in the Rye, every time I see this disc in the Used Bin I HAVE TO PURCHASE IT. No sign of helicopters. Yet.
  • One of my favorite songs, maybe the favorite, period.
  • love this song! agree with poor-de-chirico, a summation of life in the early twenties.
  • I just turned 21 this year... and this song is my life, totally. "Well, I ought to be learning, but I feel like a veteran of 'Oh, I love your poetry, but I hate your poems.' Calendars crumble, I'm knee deep in numbers, I've turned 21, I'm twist and bust and wrong again."
  • Some of the only good stuff to come out of the 90's, right up there with Ocean Blue.
  • One of those songs that means so much you can't really explain it in a "shout". That's the best music.
  • Wow! I thought at first these were the Smiths. They sound great!
  • Bought this when it first came out. Love em!
  • Wow, I really missed out on this band (even though I lived in the era).... this is beautiful!
  • i miss the 90's so...
  • one of the indie gods!!great!!
  • Saw them 4 times during their recent UK tour. Still fantastic after all these years.
  • Thats a real shame, Johnnybosox19. They were such a great live band. Why were they so terrible...?
  • Saw these guys about a month ago in Philadelphia, and they were terrible. I felt really bad for dragging my buddy along to the show with me. They were just terrible. Don't think I'd go see them again.
  • I like your poetry, but I hate your poems. Nice!
  • Pretty good!
  • "To face doom in a sock-stenched room all by myself is the kind of fate I never contemplate. Lots of people would cry, though none spring to mind." This whole song is just perfect in every way.
  • A perfect pop song.
  • Brilliant pop tune.
  • What a classic line, "I like your poetry, but I hate your poems."
  • A very positive and sweet track. Reminds the Spring and Summer time. I like it very much. :-)
  • Just beautiful!
  • Sweetness.
  • This song always makes me wish I knew how to play guitar. I've loved this track for 20 years!
  • You said it Aristophanes. This is such a smile of a song!
  • This is perfect, one of the more luminous songs ever created. Frank Reader is a fantastic singer, same kind as other great ones like Marshall Crenshaw or Glen Tillbrook
  • I like your poetry but I hate your poems, come on, that's worth a shout or 15.
