Hey guys! Look I just found this band called Andrew White and he plays these home recorded fresh folkish songs with some amazing lyrics! They’ve a brand new EP DEMO! available on bandcamp. Here ---> Bandcamp: https://andrewwhitethenon-zerobackingband.bandcamp.com/album/demo
Okay, I just listened to the album again. I really really like "Little Nowhere Towns" with the piano (also was great live). The title track is also pretty great just because of the emotion that you can hear in his voice along with the build-up/jam-out at the end (another stand-out when I saw him last week). Not trying to be a hipster, but "Sagres" might be my least favorite; after hearing it once or twice, I already feel like I've heard it a thousand times. The melody is just too generic and repetitive. I guess that gives it the mass appeal, idk. Meh. After listening to this album and There's No Leaving Now back-to-back, it's clear which album is superior.
Well, that's a bit harsh, but I kind of agree (fekko). His latest album seems pretty generic in the overall sound. Darker subject matter, but the music itself just seems a bit uninspired. A couple good songs in there though.
It's a slow grower. Only the title track and "Sagres" really hit at first listen, but then songs like "Singers" and "Timothy" really hit after the third listen. I can now say it's pretty amazing, and just short of "There's no leaving now".
@billynoskills: great write-up, dude. Really opened my eyes to enjoy the album more knowing that Kristian just went through a divorce. The album is quite sad, but he brings it out in some beautiful ways.
