• Sally Sounds 2006 - GEIL!

Den Anfang machten The Cinematics, welche mir leider verwehrt blieb.

Due to buying tickets in advance for this sold out show, we had to miss The Khe Sanh Approach's second gig of the term. Still, not having listened to The Subways at all for a couple of months, I was very much reminded why I bobbed my head so enthusiastically to their songs at the summer festivals.

The Kooks were pretty good and had lots of support from the crowd. However, I must admit that they didn't blow me away with their originality - a band to give another listen to at home, perhaps.

When the first drum beats of With You started, any questions about lyrical complexity were completely forgotten and every teenage girl in the crowd went crazy. Billy may be a precocious 20 year-old little git, but he's got well constructed poppy tunes and a blonde girlfriend (who, incidentally, is not nearly as hott as I remembered). He bounced around the stage, jumped from speaker stacks (cue worried looking stewards) and crowdsurfed during the encore. …
