  • This is darkly funny. The folk community got itself into all sorts of contortions during WW2 - first by trying to keep the US neutral (when Russia was allied with Hitler) and then by going overbaord for the Soviets when Hitler attacked them. Pete Seeger and the Weavers had a difficult time during the McCarthyite era because of this. Still this Stalin song is quite jolly. Not sure about the man, himself.
