I appreciate the hell of out of what Mark is doing. Straight-up exposing p4k. The "modern indie" scene definitely could've used an Axl Rose-type of personality anyway, everyone's too nice and politically correct.
Weird. Idk. It seems like we just look for things to be problematic in artists. His art is great, that I won't budge on. Maybe he's a punk but don't call him a misogynist, that's ignorant. Maybe he's a jackass, but don't say he's sexist. I think some of the people who would go to his shows are the type of people who would walk out on Jerry Seinfeld on a college campus. Does that make sense? I think we have to accept that some people are jackasses. Mozart was a huge asshole, if history is to be trusted. But we love his music, right?
This week most listened songs reflect what most people experienced listening the new album. Everybody listened The Possum, less people the next songs, and so on. Until the last and less listened song, "This is my first day and I'm Mark Kozelek and I'm laughing my ass off right now".
@FoolmeThrice Each time I've seen him recently he's talked to women like shit, or got young girls on stage and acted like a creepy old man, where people walked out. Fucking tragic. I love his music, but he's acting like a complete tool recently.
i'm afraid this tour will not even reach the hallfway mark if he keeps abusing his vocal chords like he did last night at primavera. it was easy to forget that steve shelley and neil halstead (!!) were sitting in that very same stage with him. absolutely heartwrenching
@prog-jester babbling nonsense. Like if he needed any more attention lol? If ur a fan u should know by now that Mark aint ur typical attention whore who seeks fame or gives shit about what other people think about him. U need some trained ears to appreciate this album boy
FINALLY I GOT PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT ME BOY I NEED TO MAKE ANOTHER RECORD ASAP - this is how UT sounds to me. Basically some random pieces badly sewn together and a couple of worthy tracks. "War On Drugs Can Suck My Cock" was awesome. "Benji" was awesome, so were "April" and "Ghosts...". Still like him though
There is no doubt that Universal themes is mark's magnum opus. Considering all the works hes put out, its mind boggling..incredible.. I never knew snarky lyrics can age so well, melodies and song structure binding so beautifully contrast to mark's typical repetitiveness which can bore u out sometimes
