GET BENT is thrilled to welcome Eric Davidson, freelance writer; singer for New Bomb Turks and LIVIDS; author of We Never Learn: The Gunk Punk Undergut, 1988-2001 (Backbeat Books), to the blog! His first contribution is a 2011 top ten full of GB faves, obscure gems, and cool happenings, plus some predictions for the future. How lucky are we?! http://letsgetbent.tumblr.com/post/16175799173/column-pouring-the-red-whine

I not only agree w/ substance x completely but go one step further & say Destroy Oh Boy is hands down the greatest Rock n Roll album ever recorded! If u don't agree I challenge u to come up w/ an album that comes even close to rocking that hard.

"Destroy-Oh-Boy" is one of those rare albums that I've heard a few thousand times but still get excited over. Best punk rock record of the 90s.

Probably my all time fave for the rock (encompassing punk) genre. "the very best garage punk. a lot of bands have tried to sound like them." I agree. Although I did find some good bands on the way like Rocket From the Crypt, Oblivians, and even The Hellacopters. If you want a band which really does sound similar, try Million Dollar Marxists: http://www.last.fm/music/Million+Dollar+Marxists Also, honorable mention to Tokyo Electron: http://www.last.fm/music/Tokyo+Electron and The Feelers: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Feelers Im just glad that my sister will be going to college in Ohio, so I can hopefully visit her when NBT are playing a show! Love All the CDs, Nightmare is probably my fave.

Although I have owned Punk-O-Rama Vol. 3, 4 and 5 since they came out, I never heard much of the New Bomb Turks other than on those albums. Over the years the songs "Defiled" and "Snap Decision" really grew on me. As I started getting more and more into Rocket From The Crypt, I decided that I Would give the New Bomb Turks more of a listen. So I started checking out their other albums, and boy am I Glad I Did!!!! Easily my new favorite band :D
