I think its one of the most boring meat loaf song of all.
I like the lyrics though. But it lacks some go i think.
@MetalGenes Youre kidding right? Since this is one of the most sold albums in the world.
According to Songfacts like all of Meat Loaf's hits, this was written by pianist Jim Steinman. He said he wrote this to be the ultimate Motorcycle crash song. The lyrics refer to a rider being thrown off his bike in a wreck and his organs exposed. For further trivia on Bat Out of Hell check out http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=3605
Uh - I always think there is something missing in the album version. I think they shouldn't have removed the then I'm lying at the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun // torn and twistend at the foot of a burning bike part ...
I always loved this song, however, years ago I didn't understand any of the lyrics. I think that this song's lyrics have some kind of value far behind the words - and it's great!
In my opinion, Jim Steinman is the real storyteller next to Chris de Burgh!
This song got me into Meat Loaf. I found my dads copies of Hits Out Of Hell and Bat Out Of Hell and decided to listen to them because I though that the album covers were cool (And they are) and when the guitar's motorbikesound started, it blew my mind.
And I'm dying at the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun. Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike. One of my favourite passages ever...Especially the second time it's said...One of my favourite songs actually. So powerful.
