The new Beithíoch release Summoning the Past is now out and can now be downloaded in one of two ways.
1. A shortened version free from hiarctow.com in mediocre quality mp3 format.
2. An extended version (with an additional 18 minutes of all new never before-heard music) in various high quality formats from the Beithíoch bandcamp page - for a mere 2.50 euro.
Summoning the Past is largely made up of tracks originally released on other albums/demos/etc, here finally brought to a more ‘definitive’ level of completion. Summoning the Past is also intended to presage the next Beithíoch album, showcasing how the project has matured stylistically over the years, and to give a bit of a sense of what can be expected from new material.

2 Mar 2012, 0:30 de DetoxScissionGreetings! I used to do things like this here and there, but it has been quite some time, but recently got the urge and felt that this site would be a good platform to get some of the reader voting response. I tried to keep it to bands who released an album before 1995 and who have at least a small fanbase somewhere. Also, all pairings are completely randomized (Using a list randomizer), so no complaints about how two of your favorite bands are unfairly paired up in the first round. I decided to do it that way instead of going through the headache of putting bands in precise locations. But anyways, on to the good part.
Vote by picking one of the bands in a pairing and bolding that band name. Don't care to vote on a matchup? Don't. Not a big deal and we should get enough votes in the long run to make up for it. Thank you for your time and if you know anyone who's a fan of this style, send them this way. The tournament is single elimination and as of right now I don't have a set period or vote limit where I will end each round…

The long awaited new album from Irish black metallers Beithíoch, is available now - complete and free - from hiarctow.com. "Dúchas" translates roughly to "instinct", or "that which is native", and is inspired by the glacier-torn landscape of Ireland's north.
Stylistically this album throws up a few surprises: much of it moves away from the droney, minimalist style of the debut album (and subsequent EP) towards a sound that has more melodic intricacies and more subtleties in the arrangements. At times this album flirts with an old school doom/death sound whilst at other moments hearkens more to early Gorgoroth, Ancient or Immortal. More importantly though, this album is a serious challenge to the staleness and mediocrity of modern metal.

21 May 2011, 17:07 de ConservationistThe Inter-National Day of Slayer is coming up on June 6, 2011.
The International Day of Slayer is a worldwide holiday for metalheads by metalheads.
Slayer is an emblem of metal: fast, powerful, still alien to the mainstream after 28 years.
If every other religious, ethnic and political group gets their own holiday, we deserve one too.
On June 6th:
Who is Slayer
Slayer is a band from California. Their music has come to epitomize Satanic speed metal music in the latter half of the 20th century. Their 1986 album, "Reign in Blood" is one of the single most influential metal albums of all time, typified by the modern classic "Angel of Death".
How to Celebrate
Listen to Slayer at full blast in your car.

Something is said to be transcendent when it exceeds the ordinary and even the best, yet this form of transcendence is a perverted caricature. Man no longer knows where his place in the universe is; his existence is no longer derived from something higher than himself. More specifically, what is greater than him today is but a machine that crushes, dissects, exploits and uses him, thus making a production tool out of him. Man is looked upon from a mechanical point of view: brain, neurons, hormones, genes, and a body devoid of breath and energy. Considered as such, Man lost any reason to exist; suicides are increasing in all environments. Human life no longer has value.
Philosophical questions – Who am I? Where am I? Where am I going? – are shunned questions today; questions considered no longer valid, which make us smile and do not deserve attention. In a world where time is money, asking such questions is a waste of time.
26 Feb 2010, 21:15 de hiarctowDownload the remastered version of Aisling Dhorcha
The free downloadable version of Beithíoch's Aisling Dhorcha has changed. The version that was on the hiarctow site has been replaced with the newer remastered version of the album, albeit at a lower (but still listenable) bitrate.
For those of you who have the old mp3 version of the album its still worth downloading the new one for its better, crisper balance of sound.
The remaster is also available in analogue format (tape) from Divilez Rex (see here) and in all likelihood a high quality digital version of the album will be available in the not-too-distant future.
