Heard/saw him for the first time on the TV in 1997 – he was sweet 16… It was a shock! I just stood agape… and of course already was a fan! Later I’ve read, that he is considered to be a wonder child, great guitarist with a voice of an old drinker/smoker:) Love his music. Why is he touring only in USA?! Oh, and once in Canada...
He has a great voice. I hope he goes back to his "Wander This World" style coz even though the most recent albums are of quality, they are a bit flat and many songs don't stand out. I'd love him to do a Sheryl Crow and go back to the original producers. That's my two cents for today, but all in all he's still one of the best artists of our generation. :-p
My mom took me to see Jonny lang in 1997 with my best friend. It was my first concert, ever. The same frind and I then saw him 5 years later while in high school, and then most recently, last year. Jonny lang is one of thse musicians thzat will punctuate my life.. Even if he is a crazy obsessed Christian now..
I had the pleasure of catching Lang at The Birchmere this summer. He did an extended cover of Livin' for the City, they really jammed on that one. I didn't want the evening to end. Looking forward to him touring again.
I met him once, when he was playing the Bluesfest in Duluth, Minnesota. I was running the merchandising tent. Five minutes after he was done with his set, we had sold out of every CD and cassette; ten minutes later there was a line fifty feet long of people wanting to get his autograph. And you know what? He sat there for almost two hours signing every single one. What a class act!
