  • Blues just like that
  • Hooker was too singular of a talent to really gel with a band, IMO. He made some excellent albums with bands behind him, but for me his best work was done on his own, whether it was done electrically or acoustically. The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker and It Serve You Right to Suffer are two of my very favorites. JLH was one of the greatest of all bluesmen.
  • No shoes
  • Masterful blues. Love this.
  • I highly recommend Hooker and the Hogs [1965]

  • I highly recommend Jack O'Diamonds: The 1949 Recordings to all JLH/blues fans. It features a young JLH playing solo in somebody's living room for a small audience. A miraculous archival collection with a one of a kind atmosphere and some songs we don't often associate with Hooker.
