Blaze FTW ! Most people complaining about this album don't give it a chance at all..
I like X-Factor just a bit more, though.
Best tracks are The Clansman, Lightning Strikes Twice, The Educated Fool, Futureal and Como Estais Amigos
Some good songs on this album, but where is the energy Blaze? The Clansman is such a great song, but it's bogged down by Blaze's bland singing. Not to mention that the production on this album is very shoddy, and Steve Harris' songwriting is about as repetitive on this album as it ever has been. Aside from that, there are some gems, but you just can't help but say, "These songs would sound WAY better with Bruce singing."
Just listened to this album again and I realized that I can't think of one single guitar harmony on it. For a band that's known for guitar harmonies that's pretty strange. There's guitar melodies all right as usual, but they don't harmonize any of them. Maybe it was a conscious decision.
I hate to admit it, but Blaze singing here sounds way better than Bruce in few latest IM albums. Bruce just needs to rework his singing as he clearly doesn't have very nice souding high notes anymore. Makes me wonder if the new albums would have sounded better with Blaze.
It's kinda stupid to say that these two albums suck, only because Bruce isn't singing. The only difference is in the singer (and to be honest Blaze is doing great job for me, and i think that he's way better than Di'Anno) the music is in the typical Iron Maiden style, so for me these two albums (The X Factor and Virtual XI) are really good, not as great as most of Bruce albums, but still decent stuff.

"But these song would sound awesome with Bruce!!! "
No they wouldn't. Simply because most of them are not written for his voice. Ever heard him singing Futureal? It sounded really terrible.
