26 Sep 2008, 6:22 de laura_macFun theme this month: the chain! That is, make a mixtape in which each song is somehow connected to the next. I thought it would be much more difficult than it was; in any case I managed to follow the rules and still come up with something that has a rather different feel that mixtapes I've done in the past.
Fun fact: I searched for hours to find an appropriate picture of a tap on a shoulder to no avail, so I staged a photo shoot with my roommates for the cover art. Props to Mere and Laura for a job well done.

20 May 2008, 20:21 de m2hnjI'm notorious for my dubious taste in music so feel free to ignore what I have to say.
For me, a great song is about more than a catchy tune or chorus, it's about lyrics that I can relate to. Most songs I like are either about love, relationships ending, or self-loathing. Those seem to be a theme in my life.
These are a few songs that I've been playing over and over lately:
I Wish The Best For You by Emerson Hart - The former Tonic front man put out a solo album late last year. I really like this song. For me, it's about getting over someone, which I've had to do a couple times.
The Truth, Don't Say A Word, Fall Back Into Me, and Silver by David Cook - I first became aware of David because of American Idol. (I'm a fantard, I admit it.) These songs are from his pre-Idol album that he put out on his own. He writes really great, deep lyrics.
Gotta Have You, World Spins Madly On, and Take It from Me by The Weepies - The Weepies are a recent find for me…
