Wow. Couldn't disagree more. The new album reminded me why I like Chris Black so much. The second half of the album (including the King Diamond tribute) really picks up on some quality riffing that sounded a bit Low Spirits elsewhere.

New album is a bit disappointing... They had the guts to do something different than the two previous ones at least, but it doesn't really work on this one, it's quite average. Still this old-school heavy guitar tone, but with a more Doom orientated songwriting. "Funeral Child" and the King Diamond-like vocals is quite embarassing. I'll give it some more spins, but i had too high expectations i guess considering the previous album is one of my favourite Heavy Metal release of the past years.

@fiskmys I'm feeling what you're saying man. I'm gonna go back and 'not expect'. To be fair, I'm listening to High Spirits right now and I'm about to rewind, so I'm feeling generous, haha!

I've been listening to Into the Lair of the Sun God to and from for a while now. At first, I thought it was kind of "meh". Mainly I thought the singing was kind of weak. But it has grown steadily to become one of my favourite albums of the last couple of years, and I really like the vocals now as well. There are no real straight out hits in my opinion. But there is something highly addictive about the album.
