Gene Lees writes that, "Many critics and musicians consider that Christian was one of the founding fathers of bebop, or if not that, at least a precursor to it." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Christian
this is one of the first jazz guitar solos I picked out note for note. It has a very special place in my heart, as does Charlie Christian, an enormous talent whose life was cut tragically short by tuberculosis. I have everything he ever recorded. His guitar is deceptively simple and brilliant in expression, voice, phrasing - just wish he'd been around longer.
