@stvgstrl - After he got splashed with boiling hot grits he came to realization he wasn't living his life right and decided to stop recording secular music by going into the gospel genre. He has gone back to his secular form since though.
My babysitter (we are talking like 1972, when there were no rules as to how many kids you could watch...) used to watch like 30 kids (no lie) in a small apartment. When things got crazy-nuts, all she had to do was put Al Green on the turntable and there was instant order. Music soothes the savage beast - and apparently crazy little hyper munchkins....Al Green is a big part of my childhood, I associate happiness, security, comfort and good times with him and his beautiful music.
