Music Monday Night in Leeds

17 Sep 2007, 23:43

I flew back to Leeds from Belfast last night from playing a Beatles festival in Donegal with ODi. Good craic and was great learning lots of Beatles songs, Found a new love for Across the Universe and While My Guitar makes me wanna cry every time, never mind the guitar gently weeping, I`m balling my eyes out!!

Headed down to the Wardrobe in Leeds for the Monday Night medication night, love the name. Down to see me old pal The Gary Stewart Band as it`s been a while since I got my ears round is beautifully written nu folkish songs (I`m told nu folk is the name of the genre, better than nu metal!!!)

Performing as a three piece tonight with great Harmonica playing from Jordan Seniorit`s cool to hear some newly penned songs from the Man from Perth (Scotland). Big Ben really stands out tonight, a great tune with a melodic riff Gary telling another wistful story.
Gary plays the Otley folk Festival with his band this weekend, should be a bit of a Shindig.

It was also good to see Jonjo Feathertonight. I first saw Jonjo about a year back at the City Varities in Leeds where he caught my attention. He`s Kinda Retro, Kinda a 60`s Jonny Burrel Kinda intriguing!! One to watch, gonna go and check out some more of his tunes.

So back home listening to new Demos from The Gary Stewart Band and really loving Bucket of Stars Sounding Sweet.
