Does anyone play a "weird" instrument

  • Does anyone play a "weird" instrument

    I play the bassoon :D

  • I play saw. Basson is awesome. I always just remember the grandfather part in Peter and the Wolf. Good stuff.

  • i used to play harp...

  • I've been trying to play my guitar more lately, I never really got good at it. Been trying to practice switching chords, which I'm pretty terrible at. C to Em is easy, but back annoys me to no end... But anyway, I learned arguably the best chord ever: The opening chord to "A Hard Day's Night." And yes, it's hard to learn. Mostly because it's a bar chord and I'm terrible at those. But it was worth it.
    TABs for those who care:
I guess The Beatles played it on a 12 string so it sounds even weirder, but whatever.

  • i play kazoo ^^

  • and i can emulate pretty accurately a trumpet
i'd wish to learn to actually play trumpet...

despite the fact, it really works when playing NMH songs, or Misirlou, hehe

I used to play tenor saxophone, which isn't very weird but it's not as common as, say, an alto sax or flute or something. In my old school band, at least.

Life isn't always cake and ice cream, you know.

    There's pie, too.

I play balloon bass (as well as electric bass).
You can see a video of a balloon bass (not me) here:

  • That's... pretty fricking sweet.
I've always done that with broken rubber bands and stuff, but using the balloon as a sound board is pretty inspired. Sounds pretty cool too.

  • Does the mandolin count? Cause I play mandolin.

Great Highland bagpipes, glockenspiel, marimba, timpani

  • There is no such thing as a weird instrument.

  • I play mandolin, mandola, melodica, tin whistle, zanzithophone, guitar in weird tunings (considering tuning defines the way you play the instrument, I think this counts), a bit of violin, an electric bass with a single guitar 1st string and a bow aaaaand hopefully a weird 3 stringed bowed stick thing based on the gimbri used by the Incredible String Band (if I finish making it that is).

  • Glockenspiel, and I'm getting to grips with a cheap theremin.
