Descripción:
A group dedicated to discussing the 'traditional' forms of metal, of all varieties and other things.

This group is a general purpose group mainly here to discuss traditional - heavy, power, doom, whatever - metal. Other genres of music are entirely welcome to be discussed here, alongside a bunch of other things (Sports, movies etc), but those with a strong interest in trad metal will get the most out of this group. Very active posters are prefered for this group, and those who join but don't contribute will be kicked out.

Lively discussion is encouraged here. Being a dick or general trolling isn't encouraged here and will get you kicked out. I don't have that many rules other than 'don't be a douche' and just exercise comment courtesy here.

You can't really disagree with a proven fact.

Can anyone pinpoint why Canadian trad metal is so amazing?

RYM is fine if you want to review albums/movies and look up lists. The forums are fucking terrible outside of a couple of good threads now and then

The lists I think, the forums are apparently a massive steaming pile of shit but I haven't been there for extended periods of time. Those lists are just very very easy to look for new music.

Also im wondering what does RYM have over Last.fm? I hear a lot about it, but I never really checked it out other than the occasional album List.

Sounds like a good idea for the more nationalistic metalheads Nergal (seems to be a lot of them, myself included). Lately ive been sticking to mostly the "Best" or at least most proclaimed works in metal. Only because I am seriously behind in that category. So I havent had much to offer in these groups lately.

I realize MA offers a massive list for every country but to sift through the countless rubbish bands to find one good band takes quite some time, hence the lists on RYM making it a lot easier since the included albums/bands/whatever are handpicked by people who know what the hell they are talking about

I was actually thinking of doing a pretty big "project" on RYM which apparently hasn't been done yet, atleast not for the genres I'm thinking of. I'm thinking of making lists for the assembled "Traditional" subgenres (Power/Speed/Heavy and we could throw some others in there aswell) in every country, so people know what's up in their own country for each genre, good stuff atleast, seeing as most of us here share many liked bands, I don't think that'll be a problem. I'm considering doing this anyway, be it with some active people or not but I thought I'd say something, you might or might not find this interesting enough to participate :p
