If there is a blue note group and a verve group there has to be one for the most influential of German jazz labels!

Thinking the same? Join!

MPS stands for "Musik Produktion Schwarzwald" (music production black forest). It was founded in 1968 as a succesor of SABA in Villingen (Germany). Since 1971 it was distributed by BASF, followed by the Metronome Musik GmbH since 1974. In 1983 it was sold to Polydor (Germany). Since 1993 Motor Music re-released some recordings on cd. In 1999 the MPS archives were handed over to Universal Jazz Germany in Hamburg.

If you have 1/2 hour to spare, I highly recommend, to have a listen to the member radio, here. There will be hardly any other playlist to be found, thats seemingly composed so utterly at random. Country, disco, jazz - you name it. How do they do member radio playlists at lat.fm, anyway? My fav: Santa Esmeralda - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - but there are some nice tunes by Wayne Shorter and Gab

This group deserves to have its own group charts, doesn't it? With me joining, we do just make the cut. So altogether now: Have fun!
