    CDON.com & Levykauppax.fi

    "Death, Black & Folk"
  • Levykauppa X (translated: Record Store X), I'm not 18, so I can't buy things on the internet, I have to go to the actual store

It's not what you listen to that matters, it's what you DON'T want to listen to, even if there was a gun pointed at your head

I usually buy cd's online, mostly from:

    The Omega Order
A US based mailorder site, they have decent prices and shipping cost (for Canada : $3 for 1-4, $0.75 extra).

    and

    eBay
Even though a lot of sellers tend to overcharge for S&H, there are great deals to make... and as far as I know, it's still one of the best places to get hard-to-find albums and collector editions. (where do you guys buy rare cd's? Some people recommended me GEMM, but the prices are ridiculously high)

I sometimes order from Amazon, if they have what I'm looking for at a reasonable price, which rarely happens.

    And also from bands websites.

In shops, I typically buy at HMV, Archambault or Futureshop, but that doesn't happen often because they don't carry the cd's I want and when they do, it's usually damn expensive. Same thing goes for some local independent music stores unfortunately. (but I must say I'd rather purchase from independent shops)

    That's about it.

Obscure bands are best found on Amazon. I also picked up the new Slayer tour DVD there for about 5 pounds.

Otherwise a go to Zavvi (formerly Virgin Megastores). Its CHEAPER THAN HMV, AND HAS BETTER CHOICE!!!

I usually buy my CDs in local music stores in belgium, such as stores specialised in metal (metalzone in Ghent or Bruges)or in the metal sections of other music stores in the neighbourhood.

Recommended group: The Last.fm Song Contest!

I buy my new releases largely at Best Buy for well-known bands, Hot Topic for lesser known (my usual deathcore/metalcore fix). Older releases I will check around for at retailers and our local CD shop (GB's), and if no success there, I will turn to Amazon.

    Coming...someday?

Used to get them online from the Sanity website, but far out they are expensive for what I want ($38 australian for an In Flames album...paaalease), or Sanity Instore (bought 6 RHCP and 5 Muse albums for ~120 bux)

Now, I'll be ordering off Amazon, or going to "Utopia" which is like, the Australian Metal listener's paradise.

The only place I use is a store in the next town called Earshot. It typically has exactly what I'm looking for, but occasionally I can't find what I'm looking for - example: Tsjuder - and I've yet to order anything off the net. When I start to do this, though, I'll probably use Amazon like most people, or the bands official site (if the price is reasonable).

As you live in the US depending on what you're after try the Earache US site or even the Nuclear Blast US site, as well as Metal Blade and Relapse. They all have stuff that you can't get from anywhere/anyone else and sell stuff off quite cheap at times.
If not Amazon or eBay can be a good place to track down out of print releases you're after. Good luck.

Thanks, man. I have quite a list of stuff I need to track down, so this should help me in my quest.

  • JB Hi Fi, Sometimes have some pretty good in store sales.
Cheapest I got was AU$5, and they have a lot of the cd's you cant find elsewhere (if they don't they will order it in)
    Usually costs around $20-$30 though

I usually bey mine from Best Buy, they generally have all the popular metal artists there, and quite a few more obscure ones, if not I go to FYE, though the prices there are kinda steep.

For rare CDs I go to this place called Music Shack in Cape Cod, I only go there once a year, since I always go to Cape Cod for vacation, but tehy always have a entire shelf full of 1 dollar stuff. And most of it is obscure Black and Death Metal, all the CDs are new aswell. That place kicks so much ass.

  • Lately I've been buying from www.opengraveshop.com and taking advantage of their $6 CD sale.
