Scrobbling Marxists unite!

a group for those who like their politics a bit red to find common or uncommon musical interests.

as far as what constitutes a communist value system here,...

conversation in this group is currently open to all members, moderation at a bare minimum. if you have a question, feel free to ask. if you have a discussion point to bring up, please do so. civil discourse is strongly encouraged, and despite what you may have heard, most communists do not bite.

while english is the language most on use, don't hesitate to use other languages in this group if you don't know much english or aren't comfortable using the english language.. we are from all over the world, and welcome you.

I believe my fellow Marxists ought not support acts such as Radiohead, The Beatles, Nirvana and the like. Although, the "Unique to this Group" charts are much more encouraging.

@ElDuce: A capitalist country in a state of booming economy can indeed provide fairly good living standards, it is mostly when an increase of productivity isn't sustainable by increase of production, that lower wages, unemployment and privatisation of public responsibilities really become issues. - And while evaluating Cuban living standards you shouldn't ignore that it has been under a unilateral embargo by the US for more than fifty (!) years. (Not to say all would be cream and sugar without the embargo...)

Crimes, murder, rape are low in those 2 countries as well (in fact Hong Kong and Singapore rank 3rd and 4th as for the lowest murder rate in the World). Well, the very top 5 free market countries have generally very low crime rate. Blame it on immigrants? I am not blaming anyone, I am just saying that they are causing low literacy rate (and not the omg-so-evil free market system), since immigrants from People's Republic of China to Hong Kong (I know they are de iure one country, but in fact they do not act like one) are not educated, and therefore illiterate. Same goes for immigrants to Singapore, who mostly come from countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia etc. But still, it's better for them to live in HK than in PRC or in Singapore than in Malaysia.

Ah, how do you explain the crimes, murder, rape etc? Just blame it on the immigrants too?

And the 2nd most capitalist (free market) country (Singapore) has the unemployment rate of 1.8% and 95% literacy rate, which is relatively low, because of immigration from surrounding countries. The most capitalist country (Hong Kong) has a little bit higher unemployment rate (3,4%) and about the same literacy rate (again caused by immigration), although students of Hong Kong are the very top, when it comes to mathematics and science skills. And unlike in Cuba, you can live rich, plentiful, opulent, high-tech life.

Cuba is the only socialist country to prove how great socialism can actually work. They have the lowest unemployment rate in the world (only 1%) and the highest literacy rate in the world (99%) not to mention some of the best and most humanitarian doctors to ever walk the earth. Most of the Cubans who left were the rich ones (which would explain why out of all the Hispanic groups Cuban-Americans tend to be the most well off and I don't it's because Cubans are naturally smarter or business orientated people) who didn't want to share a piece of their pie and the poor ones just end up in ghettos. When Cuba is at its worst everyone still gets their food, water, and healthcare when America is at its best 40,000 people still die a year form not having healthcare. Sure there are improvements to be made in Cuba but I think most people can agree that these statements are true.
