LANTERNS ON THE LAKE
Fuse the most fragile and graceful end of the folk music spectrum to the most luminous properties of cinemascope rock, and you have the stunning debut album from Newcastle-based sextet Lanterns On The Lake. Following two rapturously received EPs, Gracious Tide, Take Me Home warrants the use of often over-played adjectives such as “celestial”, “swooning” and “absolutely bloody gorgeous.” Gracious Tide… uses a smorgasbord of instruments (guitars, violin, mandolin, piano, synths, glockenspiels, kalimba) to paint a variety of beautiful vistas.
‘These Geordies sure are magic’ – The Guardian
Treetop Flyers are a London five-piece who specialise in rootsy, folk-tinged rock, that harks back to the golden age of the Laurel Canyon music scene. Since the release of their debut EP, To Bury The Past, in 2009 they have been gathering pace with a reputation for their live performances, which earned them the winning spot at this year’s Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition.
"They can all certainly sing and play as if they were raised on the Mississippi Delta, plucking sounds from the ether atop a dusty porch." – Artrocker
THIS IS THE KIT
This Is The Kit is the shape shifting musical project of Kate Stables (from Winchester, England), who sings and plays banjo and guitar sometimes solo and other times plays with musical friends, creating primal and electric textures onto songs of unpretentious beauty.
