Come all brother, tradesmen that travel along
O pray, come and tell me where the trade is all gone
Long time have I traveled and I cannot find none

  • again again again again & again ;-)
  • GREAT!
  • Maybe I've got it wrong about Steeleye. My opinion has always been that they were very good most of the time (like this) but often let themselves down with some twee nonsense and acting like 70's Polytechnic sociology lecturers ! They were good though on balance !
  • @truetopia Musicians always learn some traditional form or another on their own - they always have a foundation.
  • Wonderful melody.... Wonderful voices... Wonderful folk rock... Yes, this is Steeleye Span. Love this song :)
  • this could be the song that first peaked my interest in and love of English Folk music. still LUV this tune................. don't hear it often enough THANKS LASTFM !!
  • Fine song. :)
  • i love how this sound combines the english folk vocals with rock in such a plain way. i think about how folk music is something that evolved from many generations of players perfecting it..what each one did in their own lifetime to contribute is small compared to the growth of the entire tradition, but the tradtion itself is so great because of each individual player passing on what they knew, with their own spin. now we have musicians trying to invent a new sound all on their own, neglecting to learn a traditional form of any kind.. much to their disadvantage, i believe, because that foundation gives so much to create from, allowing uniqueness but also a complex beautiful quality. no shame in learning something old to make something new from.
  • yeah celebrate the fact you got first shout then write nothing, thats logical.
  • Excellent! I discovered Steeleye Span in the mid-70s when rock was running out of creative steam - just before the whole punk/new-wave thing came along. I still follow folk rock acts.
