  • Rockabilly and its next generation successor, Rockabilly Revival, are among my fav genres and I consider this album to be one of the great Rockabilly Revival classics. If I was asked by a rockabilly revival newbie to recommend an album as a introduction to the genre, this is the album I would recommend. A must-have for any rockabilly enthusiast's collection and a very listenable album for those unfamiliar with this genre. Sure, mainstream listeners would pick the Stray Cats and later Brian Setzer on his own, as the epitome of rockabilly revival. That's what most of rockabilly revival, psychobilly, and other modern versions of rockabilly focus on - the rock-out, dance party rockabilly with blazing guitar riffs like what Setzer does so well. But what's missing from most of these revival acts is the other side of rockabilly, presented so well in this Gordon/Wray album - the sentimental, "slow dance" rockabilly, in the style of Elvis's "Love Me Tender" and "Crying in the Chapel"
