I'm pretty sure this song was their attempt to write an old-school AFI song. Every thing sounds like Black Sails era AFI - the back-up gang vocals, the melody and tempo, and the lyrics about the blood of angels and lost halos and such. So much AFI here.
im a teenage girl. but i love rise against, abandon all ships, a day to remember, asking alexandria, marilyn manson.
it has nothing to do with age, or gender.
its your own taste. so dont judge music by who listens too it.
lol i know. i like the sound of the old RA but for the most part i appreciate the message of the new RA i dunno maybe im a revolutionary? hey govt arrest me and put me in prison because i wanna do what just about every other american secretly wants to do bt is too scared to do!

What's all that crap about being 'a loyal fan'? It sounds so stupid. You either like the music or you don't, it's just as simple as that. If you like it, you listen to it no matter what (even if people you think are 'posers' listen to it too), if you don't, well then you don't. Love the song, and the band has grown on me, even thought they totally sucked when I saw them live hahaha
I'd agree with you up until until the point where you said they were hardcore punk. I know a ton of people consider them do be like that, but I personally think that they are just hard rock or punk, not there to be hardcore punk though, that's reserved for the crazy SOBs way back when punk was young.
Yeah! Old Rise Against.
Fuck the new Rise Against.
Too mainstream. Especially when half the people you see that like Rise Against are teenage girls. I'm a teenage girl, but when that's big part of the fan base, it's horrible.
They became to soft. They're fucking Rock now.
They used to Hardcore Punk.
I hate sellouts, and for sure they sold out.
They sold out even worse than Green Day, cause Green Day went from Pop Punk to Rock. Rise Against from HARDCORE PUNK to Rock.
You don't even to know how disappointed I was when I heard their newest album Appeal To Reason. I hope by the time they release their next album, whenever that will be, they decided to go back to the old sound.
When they decide to go back to their old, loyal fans, and leave behind the new, non-loyal fans.
I love the old Rise Against, but sometimes I can't bare to listen to it, because I know, sadly, as much as I hope it will come back, I know it probably won't.
Tycoonwiz is right. There is no filler on this album. They saved it all for their next two albums after this. Don't get me wrong. I love this album. And there's some good stuff after it but it really wouldn't surprise me if all of the songs from this and their next two albums were written at the same time. They all sound so similar. This band really needs to take another step and push their limits. They have been playing it safe too long.
