Its a stretch to compare her to Sade simply because Sade has a deeper refined style within lounge and acid jazz and Monday's style seems to be somewhat light and airy without depth..But I still like it.
I love Monday’s music; however, she does not have the artistic range and depth of consciousness (in terms of lyrics or production) of Sade. I’ve seen both live and that is where the difference shows. Monday tends to stay in a relatively safe range as an artist, such that the listener never really gets the sense that she has actually lived or sometimes even felt what she is singing about. Contrast that with Sade’s lyrics and musical compositions and a pattern of authenticity will emerge. Taste is of course subjective, so I’m not putting Monday simply by highlighting the differences I perceive. I happen to think Sade is the more “complete” artist
'My Foolish Dream' - UFO feat Monday...i think that cool jazz suits her best- i wish she'd do more like that. In my book she's up there with the best of a wider 'jazz' genre (Cassandra Wilson, Dee Dee Bridgewater et al)
