Sun 11 Jan – Mogwai, Remember Remember
Sound was much better than yesterday.

    Remember Remember 19:00-19:30
Compared to yesterday, he may have had trouble in sampling and getting exact timing to mix.
There was no sampling with sound of stationery goods usage which I had been astonished how he makes sounds, sample them, and mix them into a multiple layer of heavy sound with guitar or other musical instrument sounds.
Today, he may not have done more than three songs, I think. Though he said "Sorry." at the last song, as I was so impressed his yesterday's act, I felt so sorry for him, too.
There had been a lot more audience and sound was a lot better than yesterday, so I'd like the audience to have enjoyed his so unique and impressive live!! That's so pitty.
I hope he will have success for the next two lives in Japan!

  • Most played albums of 2008

    1. Jan. 2009, 21:59 von pecusita

Once again, most played albums of this past year. Sorted based on average plays and listed in countdown fashion to make it look a bit more fun and keep you gripping onto your seat until the very end!!!!!! Ok, got a little carried away there, but it’s better when you are scrolling through the unexpected, wondering: “oh, who could possibly be number one?”

Average plays = Total Plays / Total tracks in the album

Only full lengths have been included. I will briefly tell you what I liked and disliked about each album… yes, no one is perfect. As well as highlight my top 3 most played songs and which track was left behind.

    15. Johnny Foreigner - Waited Up 'til It Was Light
Played 305 times – averaged 23 plays per track

This was the most fun album of the year for me. Good old fashioned pop punk with a seriously heavy dose of catchiness to go around the world for 3 times and keep going!

With a 14 song track list, some songs are catchier than others and you could feel like you’ve are being given too much of the same formula…
  • my top twenty-five for 2008 (at least out of what i have)

    8. Dez. 2008, 20:34 von CaptainGaylord

bear in mind there's a ton of albums that came out this year that i haven't heard, also many that i KNOW i need to hear, like the new Sigur Ros. ....why haven't i heard that, anyway?

    the hell is my problem...

anyway. on we go. aren't you excited?

    25. Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
awesome! finally an indie band that's not married to either the dance-punk sound or the "look how depressed i am" sound or the cookie cutter indie alternative sound. loves it.
current favorites: In the Hospital, Skeleton Boy

    24. Shiny Toy Guns - Season of Poison
i haven't had much of a chance to listen to this yet, but from what i've heard i can see that the energy from the debut is intact. i do think the addition of heavy guitars was a good idea, it kind of separates them from that whole neo-electro scene they were lumped in with.
    current favorites: Ghost Town, Ricochet!

    23. Chairlift - Does You Inspire You
damn. i've got to tell you what a loser i felt like when i found out that bruises was in a commercial…
  • Živě: Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, Four Tet [CZE]

Sat 15 Nov – Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid

Dlouho předlouho dopředu se o tom vědělo. Lístky v suchu také s předstihem. Zdraví upevněno, čas vyhrazen. Nic mě tak nemohlo připravit o další hudební masakr roku. Božští Mogwai, skotští The Twilight Sad a velice elektroničtí Four Tet. Na osmou do Archy, bude to masakr.

Do útrob Archy jsme se dostali někdy před osmou. Musím konstatovat, že je to asi nejhezčí místo, kde jsem na koncertě kdy byl. Pominu-li tedy O2 Arenu. A i ta má své mouchy. Tady bylo útulno, čisto, nový interiér, prostě príma. Sice se tam úspěšně po pár minutách zahulilo, ale jinak si není nač stěžovat. Nějaký drink na začátek a honem k pódiu. Už tam totiž křepčil šedesátiletý černošský bubeník Steve Reid a Four Tet. …
  • Mogwai + Fuck Buttons @ Terminal 5

Thu 18 Sep – Mogwai, Fuck Buttons

I've always felt I've needed more of these live music experiences in my life, but sadly couldn't really fulfill them due to being geographically challenged up until this point. To continue my "making up on time" goal, it came the chance for some 'gwai!

But first, openers Fuck Buttons. I really liked their Street Horrsing EP, but in all honesty I wasn't thrilled or expecting anything from their live show. Why? Because they're DJs, and DJs are a lacklustering live experience. I mean, why on earth would I pay to see a couple of people reproduce the same sounds I've heard tenths of times? For all I know they could have their instruments off and I wouldn't notice.

I understand if there's some sort of humongous party around it, because it'll add the exhilarating mob mentality, but seeing that this was a Mogwai concert, it wasn't expected to be such thing.

Seeing that I like their EP, I obviously enjoyed their set. …
