Hearing Hardline for the first time was a real trip. Hot Cherie kept me up all night it was so good. That's the only time a song has done that to me. The Double Eclipse album...man, if that was released 4 or 5 years earlier, it could've blown up to be huge. I love the relentlessly cheesy music of Danger Danger and a lot of those less critically acclaimed bands of the late 80s, the post Poison/Def Leppard hair metal groups, but from top to bottom, Double Eclipse, for me, was top of the heap. I cherry pick heaps of songs from a lotta those groups nowadays; House of Pain by Faster Pussycat to High Wire by Badlands, but only a few 80s rock albums hold up in my book. Appetite For Destruction is one. Shout At The Devil is another. There are a few others but damn, Double Eclipse is the album I wish people who dug the aforementioned music could've heard. Johnny Gioeli's voice is something else and the songs were tremendous. Neal Schon rocks out like he never has before too. A lost classic.
i'm a huge fan of the debut album but still i thing Danger Zone is an amazing album! combining the 80's hard rock spirit with a modern sound. Johnny is still a great singer and the other pkayers are doing a fine job. one of the best in 2012
I just got Danger Zone... Anyway, it sounds so lost, doesn't sound like Hardline. Why does Jhonny keep trying to form a new Hardline with unkonown musicians? I'm pretty sure there's a lot of good guitar players that would kill to be in the band, for godsake, Neal Schon was in it! It doesn't sound anything like Eden's Curse too. :(
